The roar of engines filled the air at Evergreen Speedway, but by the end of the evening, it was the sound of victory echoing throughout the Pacific Northwest for Sean Hingorani. The 16-year-old driver from Newport Beach, California in just his second full season of racing, showcased a dominating performance in the Venturini Motorsports #15 to clinch his fourth ARCA West Series win of the season at the Napa Auto Parts 150.
Coming into the race, all eyes were on pole-sitter Tyler Reif. His performance in practice and qualifying in his Central Coast Racing #13 hinted at the possibility of his second win of the 2023 season for him. Yet, it was Hingorani's steadfast determination and racing strategy that eventually won him the spotlight.
For the initial third of the 150-lap race, Hingorani, who will be making his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut this weekend in Milwaukee, meticulously bided his time. He hovered close, riding the back bumper of Reif, showing the patience of a seasoned veteran. Each lap was like a high-speed chess game as Hingorani looked for the ideal moment to make his move. And that moment came on Lap 56.
Patiently waiting for the right opportunity, Hingorani overtook Reif and from that point on, there was no stopping Hingorani. He widened the gap between him and the rest of the pack, turning the rest of the race into a showcase of his racing prowess.
While Hingorani grabbed the limelight, it was also a notable evening for Reif, who despite leading for a significant portion, had to settle for second place. Kole Raz, another rising star from Lake Oswego, OR delivered a commendable performance in his Jerry Pitts Racing #5 to land in third place.
The ARCA West Series has never been short on talent or excitement, and the Napa Auto Parts 150 was a testament to that fact. It was a race that had everything – speed, strategy, and heart-pounding action.
The victory at Evergreen Speedway further solidifies Hingorani's reputation as one of the bright young talents in the racing world. And with the next ARCA West Round slated for September 30th at All American Speedway in Roseville, CA, fans are already buzzing with excitement to see if Hingorani can continue his streak and maintain his new championship points lead.
Will the young Californian deliver another masterclass in Roseville, or will another contender challenge him? Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure – the ARCA West Series has found a new superstar in Sean Hingorani.
